Guests flock to Memorial Ball
More than 650 guests flocked to the fifth Axentis Michael Memorial Ball in the Great Hall of the Grand Pier last Saturday night.
More than £200,000 was raised for the Axentis Michael Charitable Trust. The Ball was attended by a host of stars including former world champion at both Middleweight and Super Middleweight, boxer Chris Eubank, Dragons Den Star Theo Papthitis and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Paul Burling, who was the compere for the evening.

Former world champion at both Middleweight and Super Middleweight, the boxer Chris Eubank will be attending the Axentis Michael Memorial Ball at the Grand Pier on Saturday 17th November.
He will be bringing along two very special paintings which he commissioned at the height of his career in the early 1990’s. “The Cat Walk” and Livingston’s People are ten feet long and four feet tall and the celebrated artist now enjoys a permanent display in one of London’s most exclusive galleries.
Thousands turn up for Fireworks & Fun at The Grand Pier
Thousands of visitors turned out for a night of fireworks and fun on the rides at the Grand Pier on Saturday 10th November. The event was sold out on the day.
People who come along were be able to watch a huge firework display on the beach from the comfort of the new Grand Pier conservatory on the South Deck and enjoy unlimited rides for the evening.

Come and visit Santa in his magical grotto at the end of the Grand Pier this Christmas. Santa and his reindeers will be landing in their winter wonderland on Saturday 24th November and they will stay there until Christmas Eve, when they must leave to make sure all the Christmas presents are delivered on time.

Indie Rock band, The Enemy will be kicking up a storm with their anthem-style rock at the Grand Pier this September. Having previously supported Oasis on their final UK tour dates, the band sold out the Ricoh arena in their home town of Coventry and are now embarking on a tour with their third album, ‘Streets in the Sky’.
GRAND PIER AIR SHOW RUNNING ORDER ANNOUNCED
The Grand Pier Air Show running order has now been announced. The show, which is free of charge, will take place over two days during the first week of the school holidays, and is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors to the town each day.
FREE RIDES AT THE GRAND PIER FOR FORCES
The Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare is supporting Armed Forces Day this year by offering unlimited free rides to serving armed forces personnel and their immediate families over the weekend of 23rd- 24th June.
FORMER SQUEEZE FRONT MAN HEADS TO THE GRAND PIER
Paul Carrack, the man who replaced Jools Holland on keyboards in the early 1980’s band Squeeze, will play a solo concert at the Grand Pier on Friday 13th July.
Paul first played in the band Ace, where he wrote and was the vocalist on ‘How Long’, their debut single which was a hit in the UK and the USA in 1975.
After leaving Squeeze he teamed up with Mike Rutherford of Genesis to form Mike + The Mechanics. In 1989 they had a UK number two and USA number one hit with ‘The Living Years’.

OLYMPIC FLAME TO VISIT THE GRAND PIER
The Olympic Flame will make a visit to the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare on Wednesday 23rd May. The Flame is due to arrive at the Grand Pier shortly after 10am and will leave just after 10.30am.
National Nurses Week
This week is National Nurses Week and on Friday 11th May between 2pm and 4pm nurses from Weston Area Health Trust will be in the Coral Room on the first floor of the Grand Pier offering free blood pressure checks and health advice. They will also be talking about the work they do and why nursing is such a great career choice.

Grand Pier To Host Zumbathon In Aid Of Hospice
The Grand Pier is to host a Zumbathon on Thursday 8th March, to raise funds for Weston Hospicecare.
The fundraising party, which is expected to attract hundreds of Zumba devotees, will take place from 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
For an entry fee of £5, dancers will receive two hours of professional Zumba instruction.
Zumba is an exhilarating easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie burning dance fitness routine.
The Zumbathon will be an opportunity to have a great night out with the girls while raising money for a great local cause.
Saturday Morning Fun At The Grand Pier
Every Saturday morning from 25th February the Grand Pier will be holding a Saturday Morning Kids Club.
Between 10am and 12 noon the Grand Pier’s soft play area Adventure Cove will be open for fun activities.
There will be lots happening, including visits from children’s favourite TV characters, face painting and colouring competitions.
The Kids Club is designed for children under six years old. The admission price is £3 per child for the two hour slot. Free squash and biscuits will be provided.
Three Brand New Films For The Grand Pier 4D Cinema Re-Launch
The Grand Pier is to re-launch its 4D Cinema with three brand new films, in time for the February half-term holiday.
The films, which have been specially selected by the Grand Pier team, will appear to a wide range of tastes.
Deppo is an underwater film, Astro Pinball is an action-packed piece where the audience plays the part of the ball and Robin Hood is a humorous take on a timeless classic.

Grand Pier Box Set DVD Released
A box set charting the re-building of the Grand Pier has just been released on DVD. The three DVDs entitled A Trip Through Time, Phoenix from the Ashes and A New Dawn chart the progress of the iconic landmark from when it was first built in 1904, through the devastating fire of July 2008, to the grand re-opening in October 2010.
The box set contains first-hand tales from visitors and staff, plus rare music, photographs, film and recreations.

Queen Tribute Act To Play The Grand Pier
The Kings of Queen, a Queen tribute act, have been booked to play at the Grand Pier on Friday 16th March.
Kings of Queen perform a stunning tribute to Freddie Mercury and Queen, regularly touring the UK . Their excellent vocals and musicianship, together with a unique sense of theatricality, produce a superb visual act.
Tickets for the all-seated event are on sale now at £7.50 each from the Grand Pier shop on the first floor of the Pavilion or by going to the online ticket shop. Seating is not allocated.
School’s Out Party On The Pier DJ Special
The Grand Pier will be holding a ‘Party on the Pier DJ Special’ on Friday 10th February to celebrate half-term.
A selection of Club DJs will play at the venue, including Matt Nelmes (Lost Boys), The Real! Yogi Bear (DJ/Producer) and DJ Party Potter.

Grand Pier to Host Gig in Support of Cancer Suffers
The Grand Pier will host a charity gig on Friday 27th January 2012. The concert, which is called Daz’s Rock 4 Charity 4 Kerry, will be raising money for the Supporting Teenage Cancer Trust South West Appeal.
The Grand Pier is providing their Great Hall free-of-charge. Bands appearing at the live gig include The Communicators, Flash Harry, Capone, Beyond Control, Craig Dunn and Friends and Daz & Friends.
