Duty Manager

This exciting new role is a great opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career. Here at The Grand Pier we sell fun, so a bubbly, outgoing personality is a must. Banqueting & Events Operations Supervisor

Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, the Conference & Banqueting Supervisor is responsible for setting up and delivering a variety of functions and events at the Grand Pier. This full-time position includes preparing staff rosters for events and coordinating the operational aspect of room setup and the delivery of food and beverage for events held in all function rooms in keeping with the standards prescribed by management. You will be energetic, organised and thrive on working within tight deadlines.

Role duties include:
•Responsible for setting up all function rooms for events.
•Ensure that all tables, chairs, bars and equipment are brought from storage units to the Pier in sufficient time to set up the function correctly.
•Ensure the required amount of crockery, cutlery and glassware is cleaned and polished prior to an event.
•Liaise with the Bar Manager to ensure there is sufficient stock and where requested special drinks are ordered prior to the event.
•Once the event has finished, furniture and accessories should be cleaned and returned to their original places.
•Inspect each function room/s prior to the function to ensure that it is appropriate and set up to an excellent standard.
•Ensure that Event Manager is happy with set up and presentation.
•Check function sheets on a daily/weekly basis.
•Attend weekly meeting with the Events Team, Catering Team and Bar Supervisor to discuss the previous week’s events and the coming week’s functions.
•Continually liaise with the Events Team to ensure that sufficient staff and time is allocated to set up and deliver each event.
•Set up function rooms and deliver the event to the customer’s exact requirements as outlined in the Function Sheet.
•Ensure money management is in accordance with the required standard for the individual event.
•Ensure a full inventory of linen is maintained and that there is sufficient clean linen for all functions.
•Set up and manage the control of banquet china, cutlery, glassware, linen and equipment.
•Ensure there is a full inventory of all catering and events equipment and furniture.
•Conduct regular stock takes.
