Grand Pier vows to make weddings extra special

Monday 18th February

Amy Louise and Luke Whittington spent 14 months planning their wedding and said that the experienced events team at Weston-super-Mare’s Grand Pier helped make it a perfect day.

Now the seafront attraction is hoping other people will consider the Pier as a venue for their own big day and is hosting a Wedding and Events Showcase in March to provide people with whatever information they need.

Anyone who decides to take the plunge and secure a wedding booking on the day, with a £500 deposit, can also enjoy a 10 percent discount on a Grand Pier wedding package.

Amy and Luke are from Worcester, but Amy’s parents live in Burnham-on-Sea. The couple got married last September and intend to return to the Pier for fish and chips when they celebrate their first anniversary later this year.

Amy said: “We had looked at venues in our local area and were quite disappointed. Something just wasn’t feeling right and we weren’t excited about any of them.

“So we decided to take a look around the area where my parents live, and then thought about the Grand Pier in Weston.

“From the first moment we walked into the room, and met Charlotte from the events team, we knew straight away that this was the place where we wanted to get married.

“We loved the whole day and night; everything was perfect.

“The feedback from our guests was that the food was amazing and being able to go on the rides added a different, fun touch to a wedding day.

“The events team at the Pier were brilliant from the first time we met to the big day itself.

“Charlotte was so relaxed which gave us confidence and kept us calm about the stresses of the day. All the staff were so helpful, friendly and polite. Everything we asked for became a reality on the day.”

The couple had been together for nearly 13 years after first meeting during a night out. Luke proposed to Amy at her parents’ home in Burnham, and then they started to plan their big day.

Amy added: “I would recommend the Grand Pier to any fun couple for their wedding day. Our day was everything we ever wished for and much more.”

If you would like to find out more about how the Pier can make your wedding – or other celebration – extra special, the venue is hosting a Wedding and Events Showcase between 11am and 3pm on Sunday 10 March.

The event is free to attend for people who pre-register through the Pier’s website. For those who do not register in advance, the venue’s £1 general admission charge will still apply.

The showcase will enable people to meet the Pier’s experienced events team and view each of the attraction’s beautiful function rooms.

Visitors will be able to get lots of advice and information to help plan their own special event on the Pier, whether it’s a wedding, birthday, retirement, reunion or some other celebration.

The showcase will also be attended by the Pier’s hand-picked selection of recommended suppliers including DJs, photographers, florists, cake decorators and many more.

Event co-ordinator Charlotte Gaylard said: “It was a pleasure to play a part in Amy and Luke’s big day and I hope they do come back for fish and chips on the Pier for their first anniversary.

“We believe that the Grand Pier can help create a truly unique wedding day or special event that those who attend will never forget.

“If anyone is thinking of planning a special event this year, come along to our Showcase and see how, together, we can give you a day to remember.”

As an added incentive, the first 100 guests who arrive at the showcase will receive a complimentary branded Tote goody-bag full of inspirational items for your special event.
