CSIDES: Strengthening Cyber Security in Coastal Communities

Category:

Description

Welcome to CSIDES – where cyber meets the seaside, and community meets opportunity.

CSIDES is a national initiative launching in Weston-super-Mare to champion coastal communities, putting them at the heart of the UK’s digital future. It’s part cyber security event, part creative gathering of curious minds in and outside of the industry. It is all about giving a voice to places too often left out of the digital conversation.

For decades, coastal communities have faced underinvestment, patchy access to training, and limited funding for cyber resilience. While urban centres race ahead with innovation and opportunity, seaside locations are frequently left navigating modern threats with outdated tools and little support.

CSIDES changes that.

It’s a bold, community-first programme that blends expert-led sessions, interactive workshops, and practical support for everyday people, residents, small businesses, students, career changers, and community leaders alike.

Whether you’re trying to protect your family from scams or your business from ransomware, CSIDES gives you the knowledge and tools to do it.

Weston-super-Mare leads the charge as host of the inaugural event, but this isn’t just a one-town story. Backed by government, national funders, leading UK universities, and a network of industry supporters, CSIDES is part of a growing movement to put digital confidence, safety, and opportunity in the hands of those who’ve been historically sidelined.

It’s about showing that with the right investment, creativity, and collaboration, coastal communities can lead in cyber, not just catch up.

CSIDES is serious about security, but it’s never dull. Expect immersive storytelling, hands-on skills building, and community-powered problem solving. This is about making cyber security something you understand, connect with, and use. Safety online shouldn’t be a postcode lottery.

This is your cyber future and it starts at the seaside!
