The Grand Pier Named Among the UK’s Top 3 Seaside Experiences!
We are pleased to announce that The Grand Pier has been voted one of the top three seaside experiences in the UK!
On Monday 16th September, our team proudly accepted third place in the 2024 Bucket and Spade Awards, organised by the Seaside Heritage Network. The announcement took place in the Art Deco surroundings of the Plaza Cinema in Weston-super-Mare, at an event generously supported by North Somerset Council and Merlin Cinemas.
This incredible recognition comes from thousands of people who voted for their favourite seaside spots throughout this summer.
“We are so proud to be recognised as one of the top 3 seaside experiences in the UK! This is such a huge achievement, and we owe a massive thank you to everyone who voted for The Grand Pier” said Katie Michael, PR & Marketing Manager at The Grand Pier.
We can’t wait to welcome more guests and create even more wonderful memories in the future!”
Dr Kathryn Ferry, a founder member of the Seaside Heritage Network, stressed how important it was to see people and communities getting behind the vote: “Our winners this year are not the usual suspects but that is a timely reminder that seaside heritage is not always grand or obvious. These are attractions that make their location unique, they are distinctive things that are highly valued by residents and visitors alike; it’s for that reason thousands of people took the time to register their choice.”
She added: “several themes came out in the comments from voters and the sense of continuity these places and experiences provide was key. People have a great nostalgia for the things they enjoyed in childhood and they are grateful for the opportunity to pass that on to the next generation.”
At The Grand Pier, we take great pride in offering a vibrant, traditional seaside experience that has entertained visitors for over 100 years. From our stunning architecture to our friendly team, every aspect of the Pier is designed to create lasting memories for our visitors.
