Weston Grand Pier to Host Best-Selling Author Raynor Winn and Other Star-studded Authors at Weston Lit Fest 2023

The iconic Grand Pier is set to host the grand finale of Weston Lit Festival on Sunday 8th October, with the event spanning from the 5th-8th October.

The event will be featuring renowned author Raynor Winn, famous for her million-copy international best-sellers ‘The Salt Path,’ ‘The Wild Silence,’ and ‘Landlines.’

Presented by Super Culture and co-produced with Weston-super-Mare Town Council and The Write Box, this year’s Lit Fest revolves around the theme ‘Words on the Edge: Bookish adventures across land, sea, and identity.’ The festival boasts a diverse lineup, including nationally acclaimed authors and local talents.

Fiona Matthews, creative director at Super Culture, expressed her excitement, saying, “Raynor Winn’s books resonate with the spirit of the British coast, making The Grand Pier the ideal backdrop for her discussion on her latest best-seller, ‘Landlines.’ Whether you’re a fan of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or illustration, this festival has something to inspire and captivate every creative soul.”

Cllr Catherine Gibbons from Weston-super-Mare Town Council added, “Our coastal landscape perfectly complements the Lit Fest’s celebration of local culture and literature. With activities suitable for all ages, this event promises to be a page-turner.”

The festival spans four days and offers an array of experiences, including talks, readings, book signings, family workshops, poetry sessions, and performances at various venues throughout the town.

On Sunday, the festival concludes with a star-studded line-up of authors, including Raynor Winn, Madeleine Bunting, and Jenny Landreth, engaging in insightful conversations at The Grand Pier.

Dr. Lesel Dawson, Associate Professor in Literature and Culture at the University of Bristol, will interview Raynor Winn, focusing on her latest masterpiece, ‘Landlines,’ which chronicles an unforgettable 1000-mile walking journey from north-west Scotland to Cornwall.
